Is your self build, renovation or extension a potential award winner?
We're searching for completed projects across the UK as we launch The Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards 2023

Have you recently completed a self build, renovation, conversion or extension project? Then we want to hear from you!
The Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards has been showcasing and celebrating Britain’s best homes for over 30 years.
This year we’re looking for exceptional projects and homeowners who have gone above and beyond to create their dream homes tailored for their unique lifestyles. Houses of every size, shape and budget are welcome in the below categories.
The Awards don’t just put amazing design and build quality in the spotlight, but highlight the hard work and determination from the homeowners, and their builders, architects and contractors who make individual and interesting homes possible. What better way to celebrate your build and thank the people involved?
One of the shortlisted projects will be chosen by a public vote to win our prestigious Readers’ Choice Award, and one will be selected by our panel of expert judges to win Home of the Year 2023 and £1,000 of John Lewis vouchers.
It takes just a couple of minutes to enter online — plus it’s free! The closing date for entering the Awards is 15 May 2023.
We can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to…
How to enter
Submitting a project into the Awards is easy to complete and free! Simply complete the entry form below.
The project (a self build, renovation or extension) must have been finished within three years, or be at least very nearly complete, in order to qualify for the competition.
Entries need to include:
- Floorplans (before and after for renovation and extensions, where possible)
- At least two ‘before’ photographs, where relevant
- Five to 10 interior images (living room, kitchen, bedrooms etc)
- At least one exterior photograph.
Shortlisted projects may be visited in person by our Awards panel and will be featured both in the magazine and online, so you must be prepared for you and your home to be photographed. Some winners will also gain coverage in The Daily Telegraph.

Our Home of the Year 2022 and Best Renovation winner was Emily and Aaron Radford's impressive DIY renovation. Once a farm, then an isolation hospital for patients suffering from scarlet fever before being turned into two houses, their new family home is imaginative and stylish. A testament to their tenacity and future thinking, they took the run-down houses back to brick and reconfigured the layout.
Working with family and friends they have brought the house up to 21st-century standards, with insulation taking the properties from an EPC rating of E to a B (with further scope for an air source heat pump, solar PV panels and battery storage in the future).
“This project was a labour of love for this young family, who worked tirelessly during lockdown to breathe new life back into the Victorian building,” says judge Claire Lloyd. “The Radfords peeled back layers of unsympathetic additions and ‘improvements’ to reinstate original features, and spent many an hour scouring reclamation yards to find suitable replacements for those features that had been lost.
“What is particularly commendable, however, is the improvements which have gone into upgrading the thermal performance and the futureproofing of this home. This is a fine example of how to make a period home fit for 21st-century living and beyond — a task which has never been so important.”
